THE FIFTH NORTHEAST ASIAN MAYORS’ FORUM

The 5th Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum was held with the support on December 08, 2022 under the theme “Metropolitan Strategies for Decentralization and Reduction of Traffic Congestion: Solutions and Funding Options”, allowing participating cities learn from each other’s best practices, share solutions and expand cooperation within the context. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s Forum took place via hybrid ways where the participant cities joining virtually and the host city Ulaanbaatar along with the representatives from the embassies and international organizations in Mongolia attending physically.

The main purpose of the Forum resides in strengthening regional cooperation development through the exchange of best practices, innovative experiences, and solutions to global issues cities in the region are facing.

There are were more than 90 delegates participated in the forum representing 22 city municipalities from 5 countries in the Northeast Asian region as well as the embassies, and the international organizations in Mongolia. The delegates discussed ways to reduce traffic congestion and population concentration faced by large cities sharing their expertise and best practices.
