The Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum was first held in Ulaanbaatar City in 2014. This event provided a platform for participating cities to discuss solutions, exchange ideas, and share knowledge and experiences on emerging urban issues while enhancing regional cooperation.

We are pleased to acknowledge that Ulaanbaatar City successfully organized the Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forums (NEAMFs) in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022, along with a thematic meeting in 2015. These forums covered a broad range of topics, including sustainable, green, and inclusive urban development; environmental issues; air pollution; water management; energy saving; urban economic development; investments; financial mechanisms for green development; eco-transportation; green infrastructure; and the exchange of best practices among cities to address common challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the forums discussed metropolitan strategies for decentralization and traffic congestion reduction.

It is important to emphasize that the support, initiatives, and involvement of participating cities are crucial for further strengthening the Forum and expanding regional cooperation.

We are confident that the sustainable operations of NEAMF, resulting from our joint efforts, will significantly contribute to fostering friendly relationships and partnerships among our cities in the region.
