Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum – 2018

At the initiative of the Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, the Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum was held to discuss the challenges facing Northeast Asian cities and expand regional cooperation. The Third Forum was organized on the theme “Low carbon city development: Improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions” for two days in Ulaanbaatar.

The main purpose of the Forum is to share the best practices and solutions to the challenges facing cities, as well as to encourage further cooperation and development by expanding cooperation between Northeast Asian cities or regions.

The Forum was attended by more than 300 representatives including mayors and decision-makers from 18 cities of 6 Northeast Asian countries, officials of the Embassies in Ulaanbaatar, international organizations, the Government, members of Parliament, and the local government of the capital city and discussed climate change and ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the city level, and shared their experiences.

The participants agreed to start developing a charter of the Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum and rules of procedure for the secretariat under the leadership of Ulaanbaatar.
