Secretariat of Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum established

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On June 19, the Third Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum (NEAMF) wrapped up, establishing a Secretariat of the forum.

Through NEAMF Secretariat, the cities will exchange information regularly reporting on their activities in direction of city development with low carbon and environment protection.

The participants agreed to select a host country of the biennual forum by secret ballot and held its election. As a result, Seoul was announced as the host country of the fourth Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum. The next forum will focus on water management of cities and smart city development.

A booklet of the third NEAMF will be published for public, in which presentations, solutions against air pollution in Beijing and experiences of Russian cities that have a similar weather condition with Ulaanbaatar to be included .

Vice Mayor I for Administrative Affairs of Seoul Metropolitan Government Yoon Joon Byeong expressed gratitude to Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city and Governor of Capital city S.Batbold for initiating and organizing the Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum successfully. “If the Northeast Asian cities discuss problems, seek and find solutions together and support each other, it is possible to solve many problems regardless of their size. The 2020 NEAMF will expand cooperation of the cities and enrich discussion topics, focusing on cooperation, peaceful coexistence and strategic partnership among the Northeast Asian cities”.
