5th Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum was held

The 5th Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum-2022 was held under the theme “Metropolitan Strategies for Decentralization and Reduction of Traffic Congestion: Solutions and Funding options” on December 8th, 2022. The Northeast Asian Mayors’ Forum was first organized by the Governor’s Office of the Capital City of Ulaanbaatar with support from the Asia Foundation in 2014, allowing participant cities to not only exchange ideas, share solutions, knowledge, and expertise on the common challenges that cities’ face but also to strengthen regional cooperation.

More than 90 delegates representing 22 city municipalities, 2 embassies, and over 10 international organizations including the United Nations Development Program, International Organization of Migration, World Bank, JICA International Organization, The Asia Foundation, International Organization for Sustainable Local Governments (ICLEI), Euro- Asia branch of the United City and Local Government, and Global Green Development Institute (GGGI). The delegates discussed ways to reduce traffic congestion and population concentration faced by large cities sharing their expertise and best practices.

It was our honor to have notable delegates at the forum including H.E. Mr.  Sukhbaatar, Member of the Parliament, Minister for Ulaanbaatar City’s Traffic Congestion, and Chairman of the National Committee on Traffic Congestion Reduction of Capital City, Mr. Sandagsuren, First Deputy Governor in charge of Economy and Infrastructure, Mr. Orzaev Nikolay Pavlovich, Mayor of Elista city of the Russian Federation, Mr. Hwang In Guk, Second Vice Mayor of Suwon city from the Republic of Korea and many more.
